This is a very, very long and personal post,
about my journey to where, and who I am today~ ♪
I've always loved to paint, even since I was a mere child. I started drawing and painting "seriously" at the age of 8, and now I'm here - 9 years later - and still doing it. I've evolved so much, and gotten so much better at painting over the years. Never in my whole life have I questioned my passion for art, even though I mainly only wanted to become a true "mangaka" in my early years. Now that goal has changed a whole lot.
Another thing I've always loved is photography. I got my very first camera when I was about 10 or 11, I think. It was a 3 megapixels compact one, from Canon. I loved it - the quality of the images didn't bother me at all, since obviously I didn't know any better. It was almost like the camera became my new best friend.
Some years later my dad bought his own camera, that had an extraordinary amount of 7 megapixels. He was only using it for occasional vacations & travels though, and mostly it just laid put in some drawer at home. Of course, I'd fallen in love at first sight with the camera, and felt like it was a huge waste that it just gathered dust in a drawer. So I started borrowing it from my dad, and that's the year when I started photographing everything I saw, everywhere I went.
Since then I've started taking photos more & more frequently, both with my cellphones, and the DSLR's in school. I've always wanted a DSLR myself, but I haven't possibly been able purchase one, since I've barely had any kind of income. I've only had allowances each month, but most of that has gone to food etc.. That is, up until last year, when I moved to the Swedish capital by myself. I got a part-time job as a telemarketer, and started making my own money and taking care of myself.
Dealing with a part-time job, school and a social life at the same time is hard - you barely don't have time for anything else. I've barely had time to paint at all. Now I only work on the weekends though, so I've been able to do more stuff, and even started working out again. But during all this time, I've saved up a whole lot of money that I've made myself. And yesterday, I ordered my very own DSLR - a Nikon D7000. Oh god am I nervous about this purchase, but I'm just as happy~!!
I can't tell you all how excited I'm to start shooting more seriously. As much as I love digital painting, I love photographing, and I think they go quite well together. I'll also soon upgrade my tablet to a Wacom intuos5, so that I can work more professionally while painting, but also while retouching photos. My Bamboo One is getting quite old anyway, since I've had it for 5 years already. My dream is to truly just do what I love, and these two... well. I love doing them both - I can't choose just one. That's why I need professional equipment for both!
This means I'll probably start posting more photography here too.
Of course I won't stop painting, I never will.
I'll just try to focus more on photography for now, who knows what will happen later on?
So.. I don't know what to say, except:
I hope you all will stay with me on this journey~ (^▽^)
